Dear Friend,

The Resource Training and Counseling Center is proud to announce that we will be opening a Recovery Center in Staten Island called Christopher’s Reason.

The Heroin & prescription opioid epidemic is one of the worst we have seen, even those of us who have been in the substance abuse treatment field for decades. Governor Cuomo has declared it a public health crisis. People are dying nearly every day of overdoses, especially young people. People, who never touched a drug in their lives, come from good supportive families and communities, are getting hooked on prescription opioids, and when no longer available from a doctor, are turning to Heroin.

Who We Are:
The Resource Training & Counseling Center, founded in 1994, provides both education for those seeking a career as a Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC), as well as treatment for those who are caught in the grips of addiction. We are a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. We have locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, and have been working with the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office for many years, presenting our Drug Consequence Awareness Program (DrugCAP) to low level drug offenders & new users in an attempt to make an early intervention, before it is too late for them.  Up until now, we have not had a location in Staten Island.

Why Christopher’s Reason?
Christopher’s Reason is named after Christopher Perrotto, who passed away early in this epidemic, on April 10th, 2011. Christopher’s mother, Ann Marie Perrotto, has been one of our speakers at DrugCAP, passionately sharing her loss for the purpose of helping others. She is now a part of the TRTCC executive team, and working daily to make a change. Christopher’s Reason will serve as a “Beacon of Hope” for individuals, and the loved ones of those who are suffering from this terrible, life threatening addiction.  It will be a judgment free place, where people can be directed to the services they need. We are partnering with other organizations and modalities of treatment to improve treatment availability with a full continuum of care.

On behalf of The Resource Training & Counseling Center, I ask that you please join us at our fundraiser, place an add in our fundraising journal, and/or make a donation, to help us bring Christopher’s Reason to Staten Island, to serve as a “beacon of hope” for everyone.
